Information on 2018 Summer Theatre Camps will be released in January 2018.

Diagonal’s Summer Theatre Camps are multi-week day camps, designed to provide a creative theatrical experience for students in grades 1-12. Camps are offered on a variety of themes including Creative Drama, Musical Theater, Shakespeare, Acting, Improvisation, and more. They’re designed for students at all experience levels, and are a great way for kids to stretch their creative muscles, try something new, make friends, learn new skills, and work as an ensemble, all in the joyful spirit of summer.

They’re taught by trained teaching artists who create safe, creative spaces and offer opportunities for campers to develop artistic technique, social skills, and imaginative thinking. There will also be an opportunity for HS students to work as apprentices, learning from and assisting professional teaching artists, designers, and arts administrators. All summer camps culminate in a celebratory presentation or sharing for students’ friends and families.

Each camp will also include a component of memory training, and all teaching artists will be trained how to impart the fundamentals of memorization. This component not only helps campers develop one of the fundamental skills all actors must possess, but also builds confidence, reduces anxiety, saves time, and provides a support for other tasks in their everyday lives: study skills, public speaking, test taking, etc.
